The Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Scheme 2023. This scheme was announced during Covid in 2018. Under this scheme, journalists and their families are being covered by the government with accessible health facilities. This scheme has been launched by the Chief Minister of Odisha on 1st June 2018. Under this scheme, insurance coverage will be provided to all journalists. All journalists of Odisha will be provided with insurance coverage of RS 2 to 5 lakh per year. If anything untoward happens to a journalist, he can take cashless treatment from RS 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh in the government or private hospitals.
Under this scheme, a total of 8,717 journalists of Odisha State will be provided the benefit of this scheme. The number of journalists who took advantage earlier was 3,233. Under this scheme, if a journalist dies in an accident, his family will be given RS 15 lakh by the Odisha Government.
